Kenya emerged the Champions of the 2022 Africa Senior Athletics Championship in Mauritius with a total of 23 medals after dominating the long-distance race and Ferdinand Omanyala who is officially the fastest man in Africa after he defeated South Africa’s Akani Simbine to win the men’s 100m race.

The defending champions topped the table with 10 Gold 5 Silver and 8 Bronze medals while South Africa won the most medals, a whopping 36 medals but just managed 9 Gold 13 Silver and 14 Bronze medals.

Nigeria came third with 11 medals, 5 Gold, three Silver and 3 Bronze medals won from the relay, 100m hurdles, Discus, Hammer, High Jump and Shot Put.

Other countries who finished on the podium are Algeria, Ethiopia, Botswana, Burkina Faso and Zambia who bagged the fourth to eighth position on the medal table.
