Harambee Stars captain and Montreal Impact midfielder Victor Wanyama is building a state of the art football academy in Busia.

The former Southampton and Tottenham Hotspurs man inspected the facility on Thursday to check on the progress of construction.

The upcoming facility will be used to tap young talents in the region.

According to the academy’s website, it’s aim is “To promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing high quality affordable activities that improve health”.

The Academy also has a commitment to education, research and innovation that will be undertaken in partnership with students, governments, business and industry with tangible benefits for individuals, society and the economy in Kenya and Busia in particular.

It will be also be committed to ensuring that every student fulfils their potential to make outstanding contributions to their own and future generations.

The Victor Wanyama Academy will be affiliated with the Kenyan football governing body. now (Football Kenya Federation).

The academy will be situated on a 20-acre piece of land with a state-of-the-art academy that will revolutionize sports, training, and education in the country while at the same time providing key sporting infrastructure.

– Education + football coaching from 11 years to adult
– UEFA qualified / ex-pro player coaches
– Showcase events / league football / guest pro-coaches
– Network of scouts and pro-club coach contacts
– Train and play with local clubs
– Nutrition & diet / strength & conditioning

It will have a State-of-the-art 3G Astro pitch, Outdoor Swimming pool, Large free weights area and Cardio & resistance equipment.

This facility once complete, will surely help promote and nurture talents in the country.
