Chelsea FC are waiting to discover whether Ben Chilwell could miss the rest of the season with suspected anterior cruciate ligament damage.

The vital left-back was forced off during Chelsea’s win against Juventus on Tuesday Champions League night and will be scanned to determine the severity of the injury, with fears sparking Chelsea camp that the Englishman could be out for six to nine months if fears that he sustained ACL damage injury are confirmed.

The Blues will be desperate to receive the good news on Chilwell, who has been nothing but monstrous and outstanding this season. After a slow start to the season, the England international has fought back into Thomas Tuchel’s first XI squad and has impressed since winning his place back from Marcos Alonso.

The defender has been a major part of Tuchel’s side rising to the top of the Premier League and has netted four times for club and country.

Chilwell was forced out of the pitch in the second half of Chelsea’s victory over Juventus at Stamford Bridge with assistance after jarring his knee and later Thomas Tuchel later said that some of the pain had subsided, but that does not necessarily mean he has avoided injury.

Chilwell’s injury will not only be a blow to Chelsea but to England too, the Three Lions will anxiously be waiting to find out whether Chilwell is facing a lengthy lay-off. The former Leicester City defender is a regular Gareth Southgate’s England starter and the injury blow would hardly hit national team camp as preparations for the 2022 Qatar World Cup are underway.

N’Golo Kante is also injury concern, the Frenchman is a doubt for Manchester United clash on Sunday after being forced off against Juventus with a knee problem but backup Ruben Loftus-Cheek could replace him in the central midfield if he is ruled out.
