Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison has said that the record Kenyan champions are ready for the upcoming continental assignment against Sudan’s Al-Ahly SC Merowe.
K’Ogallo take on Merowe in the first round of the CAF Confederations Cup at the New Suez Stadium in Egypt on Friday and despite only having 17 players at his disposal for the tie, coach Harrison is optimistic that his side will get the job done.
“We only have 17 players available for the Caf Confederation Cup because of the Fifa ban hence new players couldn’t be registered earlier. We have no injuries in the squad and have intensified our training sessions ahead of the Caf and league matches,” the British tactician told the Nation.
“I have gauged my players and we are now ready for the league and Caf matches. I expect good performance in both competitions,” he added.
Gor Mahia will leave for Egypt on Wednesday with the match set for Friday, October 15, 2021. A return leg will be staged a week later in Nairobi at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, October 24, 2021.
Gor Mahia have signed midfielder Austin Odhiambo from AFC Leopards, Wazito duo of Dennis Ng’ang’a and Boniface Omondi, Kariobangi Sharks trio of Peter Oudu, Joshua Onyango and Peter Lwasa, Adama Keita from Mali and Sando Yangayay.
The new players have all been registered for league assignments as confirmed by coach Harrison.
Gor booked a ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup after beating rivals AFC Leopards 4-2 on post match penalties to win the FKF Betway cup.
