Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe has signed a new long term contract with the club. The Hale End graduate’s development and hard work with academy colleagues in recent years culminated with his big impact in the first team last season, making 33 appearances across all competitions.
The attacking midfielder has been with Arsenal since the age of nine and progressed through the ranks at the Hale End academy, featuring for all youth sides during his development. Smith Rowe just after signing his contract said, “I can’t wait to carry on playing for this wonderful club. [Signing my new contract] means so much to me. I’ve been waiting for it, and to carry on playing for this club, it means so much.”
As a reward, Smith Rowe will wear the iconic number 10 jersey from next season onwards. Technical director Edu said, “Emile is a player who represents the future of the club and this is why we have given him the No 10 shirt. We have trust in Emile and we know he has the potential to be a beautiful player for many years to come.”
Manager Mikel Arteta said, “Emile is an intelligent player with excellent ability. His sharpness on the turn & exceptional vision have already made him a key player. We’re now looking forward to helping him develop and seeing him become even more important to the strong young team we’re building.”
