FKFPL newbies Talanta FC have completed the signing of striker Edwin Lavatsa.
The former Kakamega Homeboyz man joins Talanta as a free agent having been unattached after his last spell at Gor Mahia.
Mozzart Sport reports that Lavatsa impressed coach Ken Kenyatta and was handed a contract with the side.
“Lavatsa has joined FC Talanta, he trained with the team and impressed coach Kenyatta who offered him a deal. He will be part of the team this campaign,” said a source at the club.
Lavatsa won the league title with Gor Mahia in 2013, before moving to Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 side MC Alger for half a season before being released.
He joined Mathare United in 2015 and spent one season at the club before moving to Bandari, where he clinched silverware on his competitive debut at the 2016 Kenyan Super Cup. He has also turned out Tusker FC and Wazito FC.
The striker was part of the Harambee Stars squad that won the 2013 CECAFA Cup Final, helping his side to a 2–0 win against Sudan to win the title.
FC Talanta recently signed a sponsorship deal with global gaming company 10 Bet and have been on a signing spree as they hope to maintain topflight status.
The club has signed 12 more players in. Alvin Ochieng, Kevintom Machika, Evans Maliachi, Luis Masika, Michael Bodo, Georson Likono, Ziyadi Kiwanuka, Vincent Otieno, Maurice Dukully, Brian Yakhama, Isaiah Wakasala and Mohamed Coulibaly.
