FKFPL side AFC Leopards has promoted five young players to the senior team.

The club has witnessed a massive exodus of players in the past few weeks and with their transfer ban still active, it has decided to count on some exciting prospects from the youth set-up.

Ingwe has promoted 20-year old goalkeeper Lamek Moinde to the first team and he is expected to offer cover between the sticks following the exits of Benjamin Ochan and John Onyemba.

Other youngsters promoted to the senior team as reported by Nation and confirmed by coach Martin Aganda are, Kenyatta University student and attacking midfielder Maxwell Otieno, defender Zacharia Ochieng, central midfielder Giovanni Lukhumwa and left-back Erick Mbithi.

The AFC Leopards youth-set up is known to produce exciting talents. Maxwell Mulili, Lewis Bandi, Austin Odhiambo and defensive midfielder Brian Wanyama are some of the players who have made it at the top level having come from the junior team.

Other are, Wazito’s Vincent Oburu and Bidco United’s Edwin Mukolwe.

The club remains optimistic that their transfer ban will be lifted before the end of October and has identified a number of transfer targets it hopes to tie down to deals in the near future.

Free agent John Mark Makwatta and APS Bomet FC keeper Bonphas Munyasa are some of the players linked with moves to the den.

The club begins its league campaign with a match against Champions Tusker FC  on Sunday.

Games against KCB, Gor Mahia, Bandari and Ulinzi Stars will then follow.
