Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia are closing in on a move for creative midfielder Austin Otieno Odhiambo from rivals AFC Leopards.
According to reports, Odhiambo has decided to cut ties with Leopards to seal a move to Gor, a club he tried to join last season before the move fell through.
Gor believe they can finally land Odhiambo who looks unsettled at the den. Reports from various sections of the media indicate that a deal is close between the young midfielder and the record Kenyan champions.
Many see Odhiambo as the prefect replacement for Kenneth Muguna who left Gor for Tanzanian moneybags Azam FC.
Odhiambo has been at Ingwe for 7 years having risen through the ranks at the club, playing for the youth team and in the KPL Under-20 tournament.
The player made his senior debut for Leopards in 2018 under coach Andre Casa Mbungo.
He now looks set to seal a move to Gor as confirmed by sources within the club.
“Austin has informed the team that he wants out, he has officially written a letter to the club requesting for his release. He is yet to reveal his next destination but we understand that Gor Mahia is after his signature, it is highly unlikely that the club will stand on his way considering that the team is currently struggling financially and has not paid players for a couple of months,” said a source as quoted by Mozzart Sport.
Gor has already signed Malian goalkeeper Adama Keita and is being linked with a number of players like Emmanuel Sanogo from Mali, Dennis Ng’ang’a, Rooney Onyango, Boniface Omondi, Bernard Ochieng of Wazito FC and Rodgers Ouma of Western Stima.
