Swedish side IF Elfsborg has confirmed that Kenyan defender Joseph Okumu will be sidelined for close to two weeks after suffering a calf injury during their last match against Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma’s AIK.
“Joseph Okumu has a small injury to the membrane around the calf muscle. He is expected to be partially available for play in just over two weeks” read a statement on Elfsborg’s official website.
Okumu will miss games against Kalmar, Sirius and Halmstad.
Elfsborg is currently ranked 7th on 6 points after a round of 4 games. Olunga’s former side IF Djurgardens tops the league standings on 12 points while AIK, home to Marcelo is 2nd on 9 points.
Despite Elfsborg’s mixed start to the season, Okumu is drawing interest from a number of top teams in Europe with Italian side Napoli the latest to join the race for his signature.
Spanish Side Valencia, Ligue 1 side Nice and Scottish champions Rangers FC are the other sides reported to be interested in the ex-Chemelil Fc man.
