Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano is a happy and proud man after his team got back to winning ways in style over the weekend. Tusker collected maximum points by emphatically beating helpless Vihiga United 4-0 in Mumias on Sunday.

Goals from Henry Meja, Kevin ‘Kepha’ Okoth, Chris Onyango and Rodgers Aloro helped Tusker storm back to the top of the FKFPL league standings on 38 points, two above 2nd and 3rd placed KCB and AFC Leopards.

The win at Mumias was Tusker’s first since project restart.

“I am really proud of the team because we played really well. After the first two matches where we struggled, now we had some fitness. We have come up very well because of the way we have been training and we have done a lot of finishing now we have seen the results with four goals,” the coach told Tusker’s official website.

According to Matano, the victory is a huge motivation for his side as they fight towards getting the league title.

“This is high motivation for us as a team. In the first game we didn’t score a goal, in the second game we scored one and now we have four. It shows great progress for us and some very big improvement. This is momentum that we want to keep and move up from here,” he added.

Tusker shifts attention to the FKF Betway cup and will take on Marafiki FC in Nyeri on Wednesday at the Kinunga Stadium.
