Defending Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will miss the services of up to 7 players when they return to league action to take on high flying Nairobi City Stars on Friday at the Ruaraka grounds.

Gor Mahia will be without Frank Odhiambo, Geoffrey Ochieng, Kenneth Muguna, Joachim Oluoch, Andrew Roma Juma, Charles Momanyi, and Alpha Onyango.

Coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo will take charge of the match after he was appointed interim head coach following the exit of Carlos Vaz Pinto who returned to Portugal.

Coach Pamzo has termed the absence of the key players as a mini-crisis.

“I have only four defenders left, and even Roma (Juma) is doubtful as he is set to attend a funeral so that leaves only three. That leaves only Shakava, Philemon, and Nkata. We will have to use a makeshift defense against City Stars. Muguna will also not feature, he has not trained with the team. It will be a mini-crisis for us,” Pamzo said as quoted by Mozzart Sport.

“They have been having a very good run. The mini-crisis has come at a very bad time but we will just try to manage. These are players that have been very consistent in their performances, having them not part of the team will be a blow for us,” Pamzo added.

Kenneth Muguna is closing in on a move to Tanzanian Money bags and has not trained with K’Ogallo this week.

Frank Odhiambo is with the rising stars squad in Ethiopia for the Cecafa tournament. Geoffrey Ochieng is suspended for the match while Alpha Onyango and Joachim Oluoch are out injured.

Charles Momanyi already left the club over non-payment of salaries.
