Kenyan International Michael Olunga grabbed his 16th goal of the season when he scored for Kashiwa Reysol as they went 2-1 down against Sagan Tosu in a J1 League match played on Sunday at the Tosu Stadium.

Olunga gave Kashiwa the lead in the 24th minute but Tosu managed to level things in the 45th minute when Daichi Hayashi scored a penalty.

Tosu then took the lead in the second half through Riki Harakawa in the 48th minute.

Sagan Tosu came into the Sunday match after a solid 3-0 success over Yokohama FC. They then held Urawa Red Diamonds to a 2-2 draw during the week.

Kashiwa Reysol on the other hand got back-to-back wins after they thrashed Gamba Osaka 3-0 in midweek. The team had in their previous fixture beat Shimizu S-Pulse 2-1.

Sunday’s defeat comes just days after Olunga was voted the J1 League player for the month of August. He is also the top scorer in the league and a number of European sides have shown interest for his services. It remains to be seen whether he will leave or stay at Kashiwa Reysol.

Olunga’s Kashiwa will next take on Sanfrecce on Saturday , 19/09/2020.
