Swedish top-tier side IF Elfsborg have officially confirmed the signing of talented Kenyan midfielder Timothy Noor Ouma from Nairobi City Stars.
The signing of Ouma was made official on Wednesday with an announcement on the club’s official website.
The 18-year old joins Elfsborg’s first team and will wear jersey No.16.
Speaking on the club’s website, a elated Ouma said that he is ready to hit the ground running in Sweden.
“My personal goal is to take a place in the starting eleven as quickly as possible” he said.
“I am good at holding, controlling and distributing the ball” he added.
IF ELfsborg director Stefan Andreasson said that they have monitored Ouma’s progress for sometime now and getting him to the Borås Arena was easy as he also wanted the move.
“Timothy is a player that we have followed for a long time and that we are now very happy to welcome to IF Elfsborg. After a good dialogue with Nairobi Stars and a strong desire from Timothy to come to IF Elfsborg, Timothy is now being bought off from Nairobi Stars and has signed a contract valid until the 2026 season. Now we look forward to continuing to develop him as a player and person” said Andreasson.
On his end, Club Manager Jimmy Thelin opined that Ouma fits the bill and has all the attributes needed to succeed at Elfsborg.
“Timothy is a player who fits the profile we are looking for well. He is powerful, fast, breakthrough, has a good character and already at a young age has experience of both A-team football and national team merits through two games for Kenya in their World Cup qualifiers” he said.
Ouma follows in the footsteps of Joseph Okumu who was a mainstay in the side’s starting 11 before making a move to Belgium to join Genk.
