In the wake of their 1-0 loss to AFC Leopards in a Kenya Premier League match played at the Bukhungu Stadium, Wazito FC Head Coach has taken issue with the way the center referee handled the match.
Despite putting in a great display, Wazito came short of inflicting a loss to Ingwe or even sharing the spoils all thanks to a 74th minute penalty that was scored by Leopards’ John Makwatta.
The centre referee pointed at the spot after Wazito’s Bernard Ochieng brought down Makwatta inside the area.
But Ambani, during a post-match interview, said that the referee came with a fixed mind of ensuring that Leopards won the match and it is for this reason that he gave then an undeserving penalty.
“I think KPL should verify the referees who are to officiate a match because some of them usually come with a fixed mind to bring down a particular team. I think there were new laws that were set and the referees should follow them,” said a visibly angry Ambani.
With the Saturday win, Leopards recorded their first victory of the season while Wazito are still panting for their first win. Wazito will next take on Zoo Kericho while Ingwe will face Millers Chemelil.
