Barcelona have been boosted by the return of Sergio Aguero and Ousmane Dembele to training.

Neither forward has featured for Ronald Koeman’s side so far this season.

Aguero has been out since early August with a strained tendon in his right calf. He only signed for Barcelona in June, and the club had hoped that he’d help replace the goals of departed forwards Lionel Messie and Antoine Griezmann.

Meanwhile, Dembele has struggled with injuries since joining the Catalan club for a fee of over £130 million in 2017.

He picked up his latest issue while playing for France in Euro 2020, and has been out since June after having to undergo knee surgery. Barcelona had previously hoped that he would feature around the New Year, so his return to fitness is an unexpected boost.

Barcelona next face Valencia at the Nou Camp on October 17, after the international break. They are only ninth in the table, one place below Sunday’s visitors.
