Chelsea star Callum Hudson Odoi has finally broken his silence following recent reports that he was arrested on suspicion of rape at his west London apartment.

A statement by police in London showed that together with an Ambulance service, they were called in the early hours of Sunday, May 17 to a report of an unwell woman at Odoi’s apartment.

The 19-year-old England international was later released on bail as police continued with their investigations. He however remained silent on the matter and only used his social media platforms to speak against racism.

Well, the soccer star has now given a statement with regards to the happenings over the past few weeks. According to Odoi, the matter is now behind him as he has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

“At a time when there are bigger things happening in the world right now, you may also be aware of serious allegations that were made against me. I have stayed silent and assisted the police fully throughout their enquiries, as I knew the day would come when my name would be cleared. Following a full and thorough investigation. the police have now confirmed that they will take no further action,” he said in an official statement shared on his social media pages.

“I would like to use this platform to thank everyone who has stood by my side and supported me during this difficult period. I have learned that being a footballer and playing for one of the best clubs in the world comes with great responsibility, and going forward I will try and use my platform as a Chelsea player to be the best role model that I can be,” he added.

Before the arrest, Odoi tested positive for the coronavirus but later recovered. He has since returned to training with his fellow teammates as the blues prepare to take on Aston Villa when the Premier League returns.
