Free agent Cliff Nyakeya could leave AFC leopards, according to reports.

But according to Leopards Secretary General Gilbert Andugu they are keen to open contract extension talks with the winger despite FIFA transfer ban imposed on the club.

According to Andugu as quoted by Mozzart Sport, the former Wazito and Mathare United star has shown willingness to extend his stay with Ingwe for a further season.

“Talks are ongoing between us and the player and we are confident. The good thing is that he wants to continue with us and that makes things easier, there are a few things that we need to sort out and we will be good to go,” he said.

After tying down Collins Shivachi and Robert Mudenyu to new deals the club is keen to extend other key players to a new contracts so that Leopards who are currently under FIFA transfer can compete for the title next season.

“Nyakeya is a good player and we definitely want to retain him, he is an important asset to the team and we will do our best to retain him and other key players because we want to compete next season, we want to have a competitive squad,” he concluded.
