According to GOAL, Aston Villa have agreed £25miliion {$34m} transfer fee with Everton to seal Lucas Digne deal.

The Brazilian spent three-and-a-half years at Goodison Park after signing from FC Barcelona in 2018. featuring in 127 games across all competitions for the Toffees.

The 28-year-old full-back had been a key player in the Merseyside squad until recent public fallout with Everton boss Rafael Benitez back in December 2021.

Digne has been closely monitored by Chelsea as back-up to injured Ben Chilwell but the Blues decided not to make an official bid as they eye recalling Italian Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell with Olympique Lyon.

Digne, meanwhile, could be available to make his debut alongside new face Philippe Countinho on Saturday when Steven Gerrard’s side host Manchester United in the Premier League cracker at Villa Park.

The full-back will undergo a medical with Aston Villa on January 12 at Birmingham after the two Premier League outfits reached a £25m transfer fee agreement.

Digne’s Villa move to Villa is a big blow for Newcastle United, who had shown an early to seal the move this month, only their bid to be rejected by Digne himself last week.
