After a whole month of pure entertainment, the European championships have come to an end. The Italians have conquered Europe once again after the beat England 3-2 on post match penalties. Here are the individual accolades that were won during the tournament.
Player of the tournament: Gianluigi Donnarumma
The 22 year old Italian shot-stopper was named the Player of the Tournament for his brilliant performances throughout the Euro 2020. Donnarumma conceded only four goals in seven games and saved three penalties in the final to inspire Italy to a memorable victory. PSG have a real gem in their hands after signing him as a free agent.
Young Player of the tournament : Pedri Gonzalez
18-year-old Spanish midfielder Pedri won the Young Player of the Year award at Euro 2020 for his brilliant campaign with the La Roja. The youngster, who had played only four games for Spain ahead of the Euro 2020, impressed heavily with his maturity, close control and passing precision. He proved indispensable in the starting eleven and played all the matches. Pedri will undoubtedly be a big star in the near future.
Golden Boot : Cristiano Ronaldo
The all-time top-scorer in the history of the European Championships, Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed another prolific season for Portugal. Ronaldo bagged the Golden Boot at Euro 2020 for scoring five goals in four games for his national side. He also bagged one assist which helped him pip Czech Republic’s Patrik Schick, who scored the same amount of goals as him. The Portuguese added another individual accolade to his already impressive collection.
Coach of the tournament: Roberto Mancini
What a job Mancini has done with this Italian side. He has modernized them and made the Azzuri a force to reckon with. Few expected Italy to go all the way but the Italian boys were well drilled and did the job. His team are now unbeaten in 34 matches, a record spanning 3 years and running. Kudos to Mancini.
