The man at the center of the John Avire transfer saga, Robert Muthomi has finally broke his silence following widespread allegations labeled against him.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) CEO and Secretary General has denied any wrongdoing and has therefore welcomed investigations into the matter as pronounced by FKF President Nick Mwendwa.

“I emphatically deny the allegations made against me that I have tried to coerce the player John Avire to terminate his contract with Sofapaka FC,” Said Muthomi in an official Statement sent to the Press.

“Given the gravity of the unfounded claims and for the purpose of openness, I welcome the pronouncement of FKF president that the matter will be investigated thoroughly by the relevant organs of FKF,” he added.

Muthomi was accused by Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa of trying to engineer a move for Striker John Avire to an unknown Egyptian Side.

Kalekwa also confirmed that FKF through Muthomi wrote a letter to the Egyptian embassy to facilitate Avire’s visa before he travels to Cairo for transfer talks yet the management at Sofapaka had not been informed.

Muthomi has not taken Kalekwa’s accusations lightly and has now found it necessary to defend himself.

“While by virtue of my position in the federation and the nature of the job of the general secretary, constant criticism during the discharge of my duties is expected and rarely elicits a response, I find it necessary to defend myself on this thoughtless accusations,” Muthomi added.

The embattled Football CEO has said that he looks foward to being vindicated.

“I expect the investigations will go to the core of the matter and I look forward to being vindicated,” he said.
