The future looks bright for Kenyan football. This is after Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa confirmed that the football governing body secured a mega sponsorship deal for the KPL worth Kshs.1.2 billion with an unnamed betting firm.

This is the biggest sponsorship deal ever in the history of Kenyan football and it comes at a time when a number of KPL clubs have faced unending challenges due to lack of sufficient funds.

With the new deal that is set to run for five years, each KPL side will get Kshs.8 Million.

“The deal has been signed already but we are going to make public who our new partner is in the coming days,” Said Mwendwa as quoted by Goal.

Mwendwa also confirmed that he will make public the name of the global betting firm they got into a partnership with.

With the new deal, FKF is expected to take charge of affairs regarding the running of Kenya’s top league as KPL’s contract expires this month.

Whether FKF will renew the contract or not remains to be seen.
