The Kenyan Premier League will proceed this weekend with a pulsating match between Tusker FC and Sofapaka on Saturday at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

Both teams are on four points but Sofapaka has a superior goal difference. Below, we look at the key players to watch from both teams in this high profile clash.

Timothy Otieno (Tusker FC)

The former Gor Mahia striker is Tusker’s best bet for goals especially now that Boniface Muchiri is expected to be on his way out of the club. Timothy has bags of experience and won the league with Gor Mahia and has had stints with Posta Rangers where he worked under Zedekiah Otieno.

Timothy Otieno so far has two goals from his first three matches and will be eager to add on to the impressive tally against Sofapaka.

Brian Magonya (Sofapaka)

The attacking midfielder was voted as the man of the match in the win against Chemelil last time out. Though yet to find the net, Magonya is Sofapaka’s creative spark.

He is tasked with creating goal-scoring chances for the strikers and it is a job he does with aplomb. Tusker’s backline will need to be wary of the gifted Magonya.

Boniface Muchiri (Tusker)

Tusker’s talisman this season is undoubtedly Boniface Muchiri. After opening the season with a brace against Champions Gor Mahia, Muchiri has failed to find the net since.

He, however, remains a nuisance for defenders and hit the post against Zoo Kericho last weekend. Sofapaka could be in for a rough afternoon should they give Muchiri space to operate.

Ellie Asieche (Sofapaka)

A powerhouse midfielder who has it all, pace, close control, an eye for a pass and deadly in front of goal. Asieche already has one goal to his name this season and could have had another last week but for excellent goalkeeping from Zoo Kericho.

Up against a Tusker FC side that has looked suspect in defense, Asieche could punish them further with a goal or an assist to the strikers.
