Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has said the club is ready to honour its league match against Zoo Kericho today.

Speaking at Sarova, during the launch of Betsafe, the club’s official sponsor, the Rachier said his team is training at Camp Toyoyo waiting for the arrival of their opponents from Kericho.

He however revealed that they have not heard anything from Kericho.

“We are waiting to honour our match against Zoo Kericho today at 3′ Oclock. I don’t know what has happened, but we are ready to play football,” Rachier told reporters.

FKF announced on Monday that the match, and another one between Mathare and Ulinzi Stars had been postoponed.

It is believed the federation is putting the four clubs under pressure to commit to a broadcasting deal with StarTimes. The clubs have declined to sign the deal, claiming they cant give up their economic rights to FKF.

Mathare United chair Bob Munro questioned the push to have the clubs sign a contract they have not seen. He also admonished FKF President Nick Mwendwa for postponing the club’s matches over unfootballing reasons.

Gor have pledged to honour their league assignments but will not allow the matches to be televised on StarTimes until they strike a deal.

Gor Mahia will face APR in a CAF Champions League match at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Rachier thanked Betsafe for helping lift the club’s financial burden. He said last week’s trip to Kigali would have not happened were it not for the betting firm.

“Betsafe as a sponsor has been good to us… huge support on matters finances. We almost got stranded with our trip to Rwanda but thanks to the sponsor, they came through big time,” he said.
