The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has postponed league matches between Gor Mahia and zoo Kericho.
The federation has also cancelled another match pitting soldiers Ulinzi and Mathare United.
Though FKF did not give reasons for the postponement, it is presumed to be over the four club’s failure to sign a broadcasting agreement with StarTimes.
One would think that Gor Mahia had softened their stand over the issue, after almost missing their trip to Rwanda for the CAF Champions League match due to lack of funds.
The club travelled in national team colors, as it did not have its own tracksuits. This was another sign that Gor Mahia is extremely broke.
Gor is preparing for the return leg of the CAF match against APR this weekend where they hope to overturn a 2-1 loss in Kigali.
There are fears in the Gor Mahia camp that player morale is very low due to unpaid salaries, which may affect how they approach the weekend’s game.
We understand that some of the players had even declined to travel to Rwanda over the same reason. The unnamed players only boarded the plane after they were promised their dues would be paid.
