Gor Mahia will have to make do without their head coach Steven Polack who has left the country for Finland.
Polack is expected to be away for one week on what Gor Mahia has termed as a deserved vacation.
The English born tactician who also holds a Finnish Citizenship joined Gor Mahia at the start of 2019/2020 to take over from former head coach Hassan Oktay who left for his native home of Turkey to take care of a number of Family issues but never returned.
Since taking Charge, Polack has had a great run with Gor Mahia especially in the Kenya Premier League with the former Asante Kotoko man leading the record time Kenyan Champions to 4 wins in 4 matches.
Gor beat Tusker 5-2 in their opening match before beating KCB 2-1 in their second match. The team then beat Nzoia Sugar 2-0 before seeing off Kericho based side Zoo FC 1-0 at the Afraha Stadium.
The wins have seen Gor Mahia rise to the summit of the Kenya Premier League on 12 Points with one game at hand.
Gor Mahia have however posted mixed results at the Continental Stage with the Steven Polack led side dropping to the second tier of African Club competitions. Gor were eliminated from the CAF Champions League after going down 6-1 on aggregate to USM Alger.
The team now awaits it’s next opponent in the Confederation Cup group stage play-off when the CAF Inter Clubs Committee conducts the draw on Wednesday evening.
Coach Polack has had to make do with only 16 players in the CAF Competitions but is upbeat that he will lead Gor Mahia to the Group Stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.
