Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have accepted an invite from Sudanes club Al Hilal Omdurman for a friendly match on Wednesday next week.
In a statement on social media, Gor Mahia said, they will, pending approval from the Football Kenya Federation, travel to Sudan on Monday.
The statement further said the friendly is part of their preparations for the upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Algerian side CR Belouizdad later this month.
“Pending approval by Football Kenya Federation, we are set to fly out on Monday next week to Khartoum, Sudan to play a high profile friendly match against Al Hilal on Wednesday as part of our preparation for continental matches,” Gor said in a statement
Sports Plug has reliably been informed that the hosts will cater for everything from flight tickets, accomodation and player allowances.
Gor will also get at least Ksh 4 million from the friendly.
Gor and Al Hilal have developed a good relationship in recent times. The two clubs played in a similar friendly in 2017, with the home side winning by a solitary goal. Gor won by the same scoreline in another friendly in 2016.
Al Hilal is also planning to face Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko in the CAF CL and the friendly is a well thought idea.
However, it is remains unclear if FKF will allow Gor to travel owing to the fixture congestion. K’ogallo have two league matches in hand and must find time to play them.
