Arsenal have completed the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City. It is believed that the deal is worth an initial £30million, along with an additional £2million in achievable add-ons.
The Ukrainian International is the second player this summer to swap Etihad for the Emirates after Gabriel Jesus signed for the gunners earlier this month.
Zinchenko departed City’s training camp in Houston, Texas on Tuesday and successfully completed a medical at Arsenal’s camp in Orlando, Florida Arsenal sporting director Edu flew in to Orlando to help finalize the deal. He becomes Arsenal’s fifth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Marquinhos, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus.
Although he tends to operate in midfield for his country, Zinchenko has mainly been used by Guardiola at left-back. While that is a specific area of the pitch where Arsenal have been looking to strengthen, his versatility is certain to appeal.
Zinchenko has enjoyed huge success at City, winning the Premier League and Carabao Cup four times apiece. He has also lifted one FA Cup and played in the 2021 Champions League final.
He moved to Manchester City from Russian club Ufa in the summer of 2016 and has made a total of 128 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League club.
