After helping Tusker FC defend their 2021/22 FKF Premier League title last season Patrick Matasi could be on his way out.

According to reports, top flight outfit Kenya Police FC are in advanced talks to snatch the Harambee Stars and Tusker goalkeeper signature as the law enforcers continue to bolster their squad ahead of the 2022/23 league campaign.

Matasi won the league’s last Golden Glove award after 18 clean sheets in 25 games to his name and the shot-stopper also appears determined to try a new challenge. Matasi failed to show up for Tusker training at the Ruaraka Grounds with reports heavily link him with Police move.

Since earning top flight promotion the law enforcers have been on a busy spending spree, signing five already this season.

In an interview with Mozzart Sport, the former AFC Leopards, Posta Rangers and Ethiopia’s St George DC disclosed custodian instructed clubs interest in his signature to open talks with Tusker after Police FC, and two Tanzanian clubs Kagera Sugar and Azam FC emerged as suitors for his signature.

“I still contract with Tusker FC and any team that wants my services knows the right channel to follow. That simply means they must speak to Tusker FC who are my current employers and I respect them,” said Matasi via Mozzart Sport.

Matasi joined Roberto Matano’s side last season from Ethiopian giants St George SC on a two-year deal as a free agent.
