Hector Bellerin has come out in support of Granit Xhaka after his reaction to jeers on Sunday.
The Switzerland international was booed for walking off the pitch rather than running when he was substituted by Unai Emery in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, and he also appeared to tell the crowd to “f**k off”.
Fan favourite Bellerin has now responded on Twitter, which received a positive response from Arsenal supporters.
He wrote: “We are all humans, we all have emotions, and sometimes it’s not easy dealing with them.
Emery has since admitted that the 27-year-old could be stripped of the captaincy, and Bellerin would be among the candidates to replace him.
Gunners hero Ian Wright has also given his thoughts on the incident, and urged the midfielder to apologise to fans.
He said on Match of the Day 2: “He should apologise. That’s the captain. He should have apologised already.
“[If he apologises] it’s not a case of that’s the end of it, but that’s the guy they’ve chosen as the captain and that’s not captain’s behaviour.
