“I am not here on vacation, am here to work and everybody will feel my presence here,” This is the message Steven Pollack sent out to football fans and stakeholders across the country during his official unveiling as Gor Mahia’s new head coach.

Pollack takes over from Hassan Oktay and has signed a two year deal with the Kenyan Champions.

The Finnish coach’s first assignment will be to guide Gor Mahia in their CAF Champions League Campaign againt Aigle Noir of Burundi this Saturday in Bujumbura. Ahead of that task, Pollack has assured Gor Mahia fans that he will make the Club even more great and successful.

“I appreciate the chairman for appointing me as head coach of Gor Mahia. It is not the first time I have tried to come here [at Gor Mahia] as I also tried it one year ago,” he said.

“We will strive to be number one. This is a target which also the players should have. We have the best squad which can take the club to the next level in KPL and even in Africa,” he added.

Also unveiled alongside Steven Pollack were Assistant head coach Patrick Odhiambo, new players David Mapigano, Maurice Ojwang, Tobias Otieno, Curtis Wekesa, Dickson Ambundo, Gislain Yikpe Gnamien and Francis Afriyie.

Gislain Yikpe Gnamien and Francis Afriyie will however not be part of the Gor Mahia squad that will take on Aigle Noir since their International Transfer Clearance Certificates are yet to arrive.

Striker Dennis Oliech will also sit out of the clash as he recovers from an injury he sustained last season.
