Tanzanian giants Simba SC beat Burundian side Vital’O FC 6-0 in a friendly match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as part of the club’s major celebrations dubbed ‘Simba Day’.

Coach Sven Vandenbroek gave starts to four new signings with former Gor Mahia defender Joash Onyango making the cut while his compatriot Francis Kahata started from the bench.

New signings Bernard Morrison, Larry Bwalaya and Ibrahim Ame also started the game.

Simba scored through newbies Bernard Morrison,Chris Mugalu and Charles Ilafya who all scored on their debuts. Other goals came courtesy of captain John Bocco, Clatous Chama and Ajib.

 “Wekundu wa Msimbazi” as they are also known, showed the whole world just why they are the Tanzanian football powerhouse. With a full to capacity stadium and thousands of fans dressed in their Simba colours, the day was a huge success. New players were all introduced to the fans with Bernard Morrison who joined simba from arch rivals Yanga SC stealing the show.

Apart from the game of football, fans were also treated to great musical performances from acts like Diamond Platnumz, Rayvanny, Marioo.

Singer Diamond and Simba SC spokesperson Haji Manara arrived in a helicopter to once again leave a lasting impression among Simba fans and the thousands of football lovers who followed proceedings across the interwebs.

Simba won the Vodacom Premier League as well as the Azam Federation Cup. The club now has its sight set on Continental glory as it will take part in next seasons CAF Champions League.
