Serie A Champions Juventus have confirmed that Maurizio Sarri has been sacked as head coach.

“Juventus Football Club announces that Maurizio Sarri has been relieved of his post as coach of the First Team.

The club would like to thank the coach for having written a new page in Juventus’ history with the victory of the ninth-consecutive championship, the culmination of a personal journey that led him to climb all the divisions of Italian football” read a statement on the club’s official website.

The writing of Sarri’s firing was on the wall after his side lost to Olympique Lyon in the round of 16 on away goals in the Champions League.

Sarri led the Old Lady to a ninth consecutive Scudetto but lost to Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana and to Napoli in the Coppa Italia.
