Kenya Premier League Side Kakamega Homeboyz is the latest side to acquire a team bus. The Kakamega based side has purchased a 42-seater bus hence joining the likes of Wazito FC, AFC Leopards and Tusker FC in owning one.

Homeboyz has been on a steady rise ever since it was promoted to the KPL. The team was second on the KPL standings, just seven points behind Gor Mahia who were eventually declared champions by Football Kenya Federation, FKF.

It has also seen a major growth in it’s fan-base especially in the Western region where it is battling for supremacy with AFC Leopards.

With all the good tidings that have come at the club, its chairman, Cleophas Shimanyula feels that it was about time they joined the ‘bus league’ for them to be taken more seriously.

“Homeboyz is now becoming a big team and you know how far we have come from,”Said Shimanyula as quoted by Goal. “I think for a team to be taken seriously, you need to have small basics like team bus, own a stadium, etc.

“It is the reason I worked hard and now we have secured a new team bus, I don’t know when we will unveil it but that must be done soon, it is a 42 sitter bus and has everything including air condition.

“I want my players to always remain motivated and feel comfortable when donning Homeboyz jersey. We want to have a big name and will keep working hard to achieve the same.”

Apart from the new team bus, Kakamega Homeboyz has also had its sponsorship deal with the county government renewed. This was confirmed by Shimanyula who revealed that his team will get Sh35million for the next year from the County government.

“I want to thank them [Kakamega County] for having faith in the team and renewing their financial support for another year,” he said.

The chairman promised to put the money into good use and called on other entities to come on board and sponsor his team, a team he believes is building something iconic.

“I will make sure the money is properly put into use and all the players and the officials benefit from the support. I also want to ask other sponsors out there to come and support this great team, we are building a brand, and soon, Homeboyz will be the team to beat in the top-flight.”
