Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal to sign Nathan Aké from Bournemouth.

As Pep Guardiola begins the rebuild of City’s defence following an unsuccessful year, it is believed Aké will become a rotational type player behind Aymeric Laporte and an unsigned world class CB.

Despite Bournemouth’s recent struggles, the 25-year-old Netherlands international’s reputation remains high.

Aké is under contract until 2022 but there is an acceptance at Bournemouth that he will choose to leave when this season finishes.

City have been linked with several centre-backs since the departure of Vincent Kompany at the end of last season.

They missed out to rivals United on Harry Maguire last summer and have also consistently been linked with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.
