Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia will have to make do without the services of Clifton Miheso during their upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Algerian side USM Alger.
Gor will be meeting with USM Algers for the second season in a row after going head to head with the North African Side last season in the CAF Confederations Cup where they were seeded in Group D.
They drew 0-0 at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani before K’Ogalo lost 2-1 at 5th July Stadium in Algiers, Algeria.
Gor Mahia need to be at their very best when they come up against USM and with that, they need all their key players to play a part in their CAF journey.
Miheso will however miss the clash of the East and North due to late registration. This is according to Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda.
“We registered him [Miheso] late and thus he will not be available for the USM Alger match,” Said Aduda as quoted by Goal.
“We are waiting for the Caf window to open again and register him a fresh and maybe with two more players. If Gor Mahia makes it to the Group Stage, then he will be eligible to play for us,” he added.
Gor Mahia will however be boosted following the availability of Ivorian Gnamien Yikpei, defender Maurice Ojwang and Ghanaian striker Francis Afriyie. The three did not take part in the Preliminary round clash against Burundi side Aigle Noir but have now been cleared by CAF to take part in the USM Algers clash.
Kogallo are looking to get into monied stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history after narrowly missing out last time at the hands of Nigerian Side Lobi Stars. Kogallo bowed out courtesy of the away goal rule after drawing 3-3 on aggregate with the Nigerian Side.
