Despite coming under harsh criticisms for the past few weeks, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho believes that he has what it takes to help the London based side win Silverware soon.
Tottenham have not won a major trophy since their 2008 League cup triumph. Having made it to the UEFA Champions League finals last season, football lovers expected the side to seriously challenge the top sides for the EPL title.
This has however not been the case. Despite sacking Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham is 9th of the EPL table with hopes for European football next season now hanging in the balance.
Maurinho has now made it clear that despite a recent run of poor results, he is sure he will deliver titles to Tottenham just like Jurgen Klopp did at Liverpool.
Seemingly asking for more time, Mourinho made reference to Klopp who joined Liverpool in 2015 and guided them to the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup last year before ending their 30-year wait for an English league crown this season.
“How long it took for Juergen and Liverpool? Four years, four seasons. Buying one of the best goalkeepers in the world, buying one of the best centre backs in the world and so on,” said Mourinho.
“I’m focused on my three-year contract. I believe that in my three-year contract we can win trophies. If we don’t, but the club does it in the new era if I stay here only for three years, I’ll be happy with that.
“I work for the club. I’m not thinking about myself. I keep saying my ambition is the same, my DNA is the same, but probably I’m in the stage where I look less to myself and my records and I look more to the club.”
Tottenham will next host Arsenal in the league on Sunday and Mourinho will be looking to get maximum points to boost hopes of a European spot.
