Kenya Premier League side Wazito FC has released 12-players. The players follow head coach Stewart Hall who also confirmed his exit from the Aidos Kuneen sponsored side.

Citing tough economic times as the main reason behind the latest wave of axes, Wazito FC is already restructuring it’s squad and technical bench ahead of the next KPL season.

CEO Dennis Gicheru confirmed that following the releases, the club will recruit new players after consultations with the technical bench.

Among those released include former Tusker winger Victor Ndinya, Teddy Osok, former Sony Sugar striker Derrick Otanga and long-serving goalkeeper Steven Njung’e.

Goalkeeper Kevin Omondi has also been released.

Foreign players released are Augustine Otu, Piscas Kirenge, Issifou Bourahana and Paul Acquah.

“It has become unsustainable to keep the foreign players at the club with the current tough economic times. We have laid off 12 players but we are yet to decide the number of new recruits. The technical bench has recommended names that should be pursued and hopefully,  we will complete their transfers when the window opens,” Gicheru told the Star.

Wazito have been linked with moves for Benson Omalla, Fidel Origa and Maurice OJwang’. The trio featured for Western Stima last season.
