OGC Nice and Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement for Nicolas pepe to join on a season-long loan. The deal is a straight loan with no option to buy.

The club’s record signing, who cost £72m ($85m) when they bought him from Lille just three years ago, has struggled to make much of an impact at the Emirates since his arrival.

The winger fell down the pecking order last season and is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plan. Pepe will will now travel to France to undergo his medical and finalize the move.

Mikel Arteta’s side remain in the market and open to opportunities ahead of the September 1 deadline, but at this stage they are not close to any incoming business.
