Kenya striker Michael Olunga scored a brace but could not prevent his side Kashiwa Reysol from losing 3-2 to Kashima Antlers in a J1-League match on Saturday at the Kashiwa Hitachi Stadium.

Olunga gave Kashiwa the lead in the 57th minute with a fine strike but Kashima equalized in the 72nd minute through Kento Misao. The equalizer came against a 10 man Kashiwa side as S. Takahashi was shown a red card late in the first half.

Olunga was able to get his team back in front in the second half (84′) and in the process took his tally of the season to 14 goals.

Things however got bad for Kashiwa as two late goals by Kashima Antlers saw them go down 2-3. Kashima scored the late goals through Shoma Doi.

Kashiwa Reysol is 7th on the J1. League standings with 20 points while Antlers are 9th on 18 points.

Olunga is the league’s top scorer.
