Harambee Stars under 20 have put Ethiopia to the sword with a scintillating 3-0 win in the CECAFA opener.

Mercurial Gor Mahia striker Benson Omalla lived up to the hype as the tournament’s most valuable player by opening the scoring with a thunderbolt header in the 37th minute. He latched onto an inviting cross from the right-wing.

The Emerging Stars doubled the lead immediately after half-time with sensational forward Ronald Reagan Odede punishing Ethiopia’s sloppy defending.

Coach Stanley Okumbi’s boys put the game beyond reach when Enoch Wanyama scored the third goal in the 77th minute.

The goal was created by Omalla, who rounded the Ethiopian goalie before feeding his teammate to score in an empty net.

Okumbi named a highly attacking line-up with five forwards in the side as he aims to be the first coach to lead Kenya to the AFCON under 20 Championship.

Stars will round of the group stages with a match against Sudan on Friday.
