Mathare United head coach Salim Ali has hailed Klinsman Omulanga following his exploits over the weekend in a KPL Match against fellow slumboys Kariobangi Sharks.
The two sides shared the spoils and despite the results, Omulanga has earned a special mention from coach Salim who feels that the forward is on the right track depsite missing a number of chances in the match.
Omulanga was introduced in the 20th minute for the injured Chris Ochieng with coach Salim revealing that the forward showed tremendous improvement despite not having one of the best pre-seasons.
“The game plan was to have Ochieng run them rugged with his physicality for about an hour and then have Omulanga come in and do the same for the final minutes but it did not go quite to plan. But I am happy with what I saw from Omulanga,” Salim told Mathare United’s Official Website.
“He did not have a proper pre-season with us but has improved tremendously to get to the level of the other players. He had chances where he could have scored and I am happy that he got himself in those positions, it shows that he is heading in the right direction,” he added.
Following the barren draw on Saturday, Mathare United are 9th on the KPL log with Six Points while Sharks are 15th on Three Points.
Coach Salim welcomed the draw that saw him remain unbeaten in the Kenya Premier League but was at the same time disappointed for having not bagged all the three points according to the initial plan.
“Games against Sharks are always going to be tough, it’s a derby that always brings out the best from both teams. I’m disappointed that we didn’t win because we had planned for a whole week to win but I can say the draw is a fair result. We take the point and focus on our next assignment,” said Salim who remains unbeaten this season.
Up Next for Mathare United is a clash against KPL moneybags Wazito FC.
