German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have signed the attacking midfielder Mario Götze from PSV Eindhoven on a three-year contract until 2025.

Götze has made a stunning return to the German top-flight after agreeing to a three-year deal with Frankfurt.

Götze, who scored the winning goal in the 2024 FIFA World Cup finals against Argentina, return to the Bundesliga after his failed second stint with Borussia Dortmund.

He is expected to reignite the attack of Frankfurt, who clinched the UEFA Europa League title in the just-concluded season at the expenses of Rangers.

The 30-year-old was once touted as the Golden Boy of German football however a switch to Bayern Munich invariably led to his career heading south.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s official statement read: “Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed to a contract until 2025 with Mario Götze as they continue to form their squad for the upcoming season.

“The 30-year-old made 77 appearances over the past two seasons for PSV Eindhoven, where he won the Dutch Super Cup in 2021 and the KNVB Cup in 2022, registering 18 goals and 18 assists.”
