Former Harambee Stars and Mathare United head coach Francis Kimanzi has been appointed as Wazito FC’s head coach.

The FKFPL side turned to Kimanzi after their first target Nicholas Muyoti grew cold feet. The Kakamega Homeboyz man was approached to take over from Fred Ambani but a deal was not agreed with reports suggesting that he was not sure of his Job Security.

Kimanzi has now taken over and has come on board with former Thika United coach John Kamau as his assistant.

Kamau has also had stints at Posta Rangers, KCB and FC Talanta. He is not a stranger at Wazito having worked with the club’s technical bench back in 2016 alongside Francis Xavier and Frankline Obare.

Apart from Kimanzi and Kamau, Mathare United keepers’ trainer Sam Koko has been appointed as the new goalkeepers’ trainer. Sports Scientist, Sylvia Kariuki has returned to the club and she will be charge of players’ monitoring.

Kimanzi’s first assignment in the FKFPL will be against Kariobangi Sharks. He will then meet former side Mathare United.

Games with Sofapaka, Ulinzi Stars and KCB will follow.

The team is aiming at performing better this season after struggling to a 13th place finish in the abandoned 2019/20 season.
