EPL Side Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Winger Nicolas Pepefrom Ligue 1 side Lille.

Pepe becomes Arsenal’s record signing with the Gunners having paid £72million to land him.

Arsenal had to beat off a host of suitors to land Pepe, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Napoli all keen, and managed to convince him of their project.

As well as being able to guarantee Pepe the game time he wanted, Telefoot report that Arsenal promised to return to the Champions League immediately – having been out of the competition for three seasons.

The 24 year-old Ivory Coast international completed the paperwork on his move on Thursday. He will wear the No.19 shirt.

Head coach Unai Emery said: “Nicolas is a highly-rated and talented winger who was wanted by many of the top teams in Europe.

“Signing a top-class winger has been one of our key objectives in this transfer window and I’m delighted he’s joining.

“He will add pace, power and creativity, with the aim of bringing more goals to our team.”

Pepe is now Africa’s Most Expensive Player with Arsenal’s £72million surpasing the £65million Beijing Guoan paid Villarreal to land DR Congo’s Cedric Bakambu.
