Simba SC Assistant Coach Seleman Matola has made it clear that the ‘Wekundu wa Msimbazi’ will approach Saturday’s game against eternal rivals Yanga differently with the main aim of getting a solid win.
Simba heads to the game top of the league standings and a win against Yanga will help extend their lead and chances of retaining the league title.
Yanga on the other hand heads to the match full of confidence after beating Simba on 4-3 on penalties when they last met to lift the Mapinduzi cup.
In the first league meeting this season between the two sides, Kenya’s Joash Onyango spared Simba blushes after heading in an equalizer in the 86th minute to have the match end at 1-1.
Simba Assistant coach Seleman has now made it clear that his side will be out to correct their previous mistakes when they take on Yanga.
“There is no easy Derby always, we expect to get a lot of opposition from Yanga but we are ready to win and our goal is to defend the League title with games in hand,” said Matola.
At the same time, Matola said that although it will be a Derby game, Simba remains committed to showing clean and interesting football.
“Even if it’s Derby we plan to show clean understandable football, we don’t want to be jerks, we want to entertain the fans,” added Matola.
Simba tops the TPL standings on 61 points after a round of 25 games. Yanga is second on 57 points, having played two games more than Simba.
