President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially handed over KPL side Nzoia Sugar a brand new 52-seater team bus.

The bus was handed over to Nzoia Sugar Company Chairman Joash Wamang’oli and will be used by the club for their sporting activities

The head of state also donated Ksh 2 million to the football team.

Present during the handing over ceremony were Governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia), Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma), Wilbur Ottichilo (Vihiga) and Patrick Khaemba (Trans-Nzoia).

Other Western Kenya leaders present were Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli.

Nzoia FC thanked President Kenyatta and the Devolution CS for gifting them with a bus.

The Bungoma based side joins the likes of Wazito FC, AFC Leopards ,Tusker FC and Kakamega Homeboyz in owning a team bus.

Nzoia Sugar Football Club was formed in the year 1978 and joined the Kenyan Premier League in the year 1979. The team won the league title in the years 2002 and 2003.

The team also managed to make their 1st appearance in the CAF Champions League in 2003 but were eliminated in the 1st Round by Egyptian giants Zamalek FC in a two legged tie losing 7-3 on aggregate.

The team finished 15th in the KPL last season.
