Western Stima FC head coach Salim Babu has been named the Kenyan Premier League coach of the month for September.

Babu narrowly beat Bandari’s Bernard Mwalala, Tusker’s Robert Matano and Ingwe’s Andre Mbungo who all tied on seven points.

Under Babu, Western Stima recorded two wins and two draws in the month of September with the Kisumu based side garnering 8 points.

Friday’s award was Babu’s second having won the same back in 2016 with the now embattled Sony Sugar FC.

“This is a great day for me, I am thankful to my players who have enabled me get my second Coach of the Month award, it is an indicator that we are doing a good job and we are headed for greatness” Said Babu.

“This is a very good way of motivating coaches in Kenya because such awards raise the morale of the coaches and it creates a healthy competition in the league,” he added.

Stima will next take on Coastal based side Bandari FC before meeting Kakamega Homeboyz.

The team currently lies at position 10 on the KPL log after 6 rounds of matches.
