Senzo: Murder Of A Soccer Star was released earlier today by internet streaming site Netflix South Africa.

The five-part documentary service chronicles the life of legendary goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa and the circumstances around his murder.

The long-awaited five-part series focuses on legendary footballer Senzo Meyiwa’s life and rise to greatness, while also investigating the continuously mystifying circumstances surrounding his death and subsequent revelations.

The Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, who was also South Africa’s captain at the time, was shot dead in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014. He was inside the house of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s mother’s house when the incident occurred.

According to News24 , there were six eyewitnesses at the scene, including some of his closest friends, yet it has taken more than seven years for the suspects  who shot him to be tried for his murder.

The true-crime documentary series explores the varied speculations, theories, and different sides of the story made public by journalists and influential law-enforcement officers who worked closely on the murder case. The doccie also carries inter-views of his friends and family as they all remark on the unsolved and protracted case that has been ongoing since 2014.
