Serge Aurier’s brother was shot dead in the early hours of Monday morning in Toulouse, France, Tottenham have confirmed. Reports in France claimed Aurier’s brother, Christopher, was shot in the stomach outside a nightclub.

Aurier was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead.

It’s claimed the suspect is still on the run from police following the incident.

Police were called immediately after the shooting and the area is closed off while an investigation is ongoing.

It’s said the incident took place at 5am on on the Boulevard de Thibaud.

Tottenham confirmed it was Aurier’s brother on Monday morning.

Spurs’ official Twitter account posted: “The club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning.

“Everybody at the Club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family.

“Our thoughts are with them all.”

Christopher Aurier also played football, however, only at an amateur level.

He came through the ranks at RC Lens but didn’t make it as a professional.

His most recent club was French fifth-tier side Toulouse Rodeo.

Aurier also had trails at Brentford in 2011, however, he didn’t go on to sign a contract with the west London club.

The tragic incident came hours after Aurier featured in Tottenham’s 2-1 win against Tottenham in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.

Aurier joined Tottenham in 2017 from PSG.

The defender, 27, has gone on to make 54 Premier League appearances for Spurs.

Aurier has also had success with Ivory Coast, with the right-back making 62 appearances for his country.
