Kenya Premier League side AFC Leopards are out to make amends following a poor show last season that saw the team finish a distant 11th.

Ingwe had a season to forget with the team even having to battle relegation at some point in the season up until coach Casa Mbungo was brought on board.

With the new season fast approaching, Ingwe is out to put it’s house in order so as to avoid a repeat of last season.

The club has gone all out in the transfer market and completed the signing of seven players with five of them being foreign based.

The Seven were on Sunday morning unveiled at the Mumias Sports Complex.

The Seven unveiled were: Tresor Ndikumana, Hansel Ochieng, Robert Ayala, Soter Kayumba, Vincent Habamahoro, Ismaila Diarra and Benjamin Ochan.

Burundian midfielder Tresor Ndikumana was the first player signed by Ingwe during the current transfer window. A defensive midfielder by trade, the former Amagajju man is expected to compete with Tsuma Said for that holding midfield position.

Hansel Ochieng from Nzoia Sugar FC was also unveiled at the den. Coach Andre Casa Mbungo will be hoping that the former Thika United and Sofapaka forward will bring goals to the team.

Former Sony Sugar defender Robert Mudenyi Ayala was also unveiled. The former Muhoroni Youth central defender has been brought back to beef up Leopards’ leaking backline.

Rwandese defender Soter Kayumba has now joined the club permanently. He featured for Leopards in the second leg of 2018/19 campaign on loan from Sofapaka and impressed. The club has now acquired his services permanently and he’ll be expected to beef up the central defense/right-back positions.

Malian hitman, Ismaila Diarra has also been unveiled. The former Rayon Sports man was largely expected to join Leopards in 2016 but a deal failed to materialize. Last week, Leopards finally managed to secure his services and he’ll be tasked with beefing up Ingwe’s blunt attack.

Rwandan attacking midfielder Vincent Habamahoro from Kiyovu Sports Club was also unveiled.

Uganda Cranes keeper Benjamin Ochan has also been roped in by Ingwe. The former Kabwe Warriors man is expected to Leopards’ first choice keeper. Goalkeeping department was one of Ingwe’s major concerns last campaign and Ochan’s arrival is expected to ease the problems in that department.

Early this month, Ingwe confirmed the departure of eight players ahead of the new season.

Among the players released were, Wayi Yeka, Eric Ndayishimiye, Ivan Sekazza, Marcel Kaheza, Aziz Okaka, Paul Were, David Ochieng and Shami Kibwana.

AFC Leopards coach Andre Casa Mbungo hopes the squad they have assembled for the 2019/20 season will perform better next season.
